Artistic Statement
Among unnamed letters, browned with age: ledgers, tart tins, a rusty metal toaster, chipped porcelain tea cups, silk thread, silver spoons, a shoehorn, a dusty book on Cezanne, foreign maps, a cracked looking glass, a tarnished pocket watch, rusted tacks and nails, I transcend, finding inspiration in both the romantic ideals of a distant age and in prosaic, everyday objects.
Behind the rust and the tarnish, behind the tattered pages of letters, ledgers, and the rest is a fleeting, elusive life, rich with history, rich with a remembrance of my own invention.
This amalgam of objects unveils hidden affinities, where impulses, passions, obsessions and desires are able to exist. Each composition: a distillation of a private experience and thought.
